Not The Best Day

Tue Jul 5, 2005, 7:21 PM

Listening to: Zeromancer - Something For The Pain
Reading: Nothing, I'm anxiously awaiting HBP

Lastnight & today were really lousy:(

I made the decision to have my dog put down:( She's vicious, and she bit me lastnight with no provocation. She also stole the cross stitch piece I'm currently working on & tried to rip it apart. I was able to get it away from her before she did any damage, thankfully.

She can't be rehabilitated, there's nothing physically wrong with her, I'm her only owner & I can assure you that she's never been teased. There's just no explaination for why she attacks us. She's bitten every member of my family that lives in this house. It used to happen once in a great while, but now it's a weekly occurance. Someone is going to get seriously injured if I don't do something soon. So this weekend, the members of my family that live here but are away for the summer are coming home to say goodbye to her & then I'll take her.

It's really gonna suck:(

I was in a horrible mood, crying all day today and Chris got the brunt of it. I owe him, big time:heart:

Sorry for the depressing entry. I haven't forgotten to take the progress pic of my latest project. I was gone for a couple days over the weekend & today I did nothing. I'll get it done tomorrow.

 to all my friends. Be well

I'm so sorry!!! :( :( I know it's a sad thing to put down the family pet...but I think you're making the best decision.... If there's nothing that can be done for her, then it's all for the best, I think. (I know, I can say that easily.... *sigh*)

I'm glad she didn't damage your cross stitch work...but still.... :(

I'll send comforting thoughts your way! Hope things get better!

Thanks Krystal:hug: I appreciate your kindness more than I can possibly tell you:hug:
I do know it's for the best. It's just so hard to look at her knowing what her fate is:( Talk about being consumed by guilt

:( I really hope and pray that you reconsider this...I'm sorry but I do feel something else could be done even if it's some form of obedience training. There is a reason for this behaviour.. As for her taking your cross stitch...a lot of times dogs do this for attention..even if it is negative attention. I don't mean to come down on you..I just love animals and have to say this as I can't bare the thought of giving up on her. There are many training techniques you could try first.. I do hope you change your mind and try something else..there is something causing this behavior.

Hi baby

I'm so sorry and I wish there was something we could do for Harley. But, I know you're making the right decision. Regarding owing me... no you don't, and don't argue with me on this! We've already agreed :P

I hope you feel better soon, if not I'm not doing my job properly :)

Love always

It's too late to play the bleeding heart show.

I've had her to the vet, and have spoken to an animal behaviourist. There's nothing physically wrong with her. The behaviourist said there's not much that can be done with her. She's 5 yrs old, and has been this way since she was young. Only then it was once in a while that she would do it. Now it's all the time & she's very scarey. She's quite a large dog (100+ lbs.) The problem is that she "steals" random stuff, then attacks us when we try to get it away from her. I can take her food dish from her when she's eating & she doesn't bat an eyelash, but when she has something she shouldn't, she's vicious. Now she's even catching critters in my yard & ripping them apart:( Last week she caught a baby opossum & well, let's just say it was disgusting what she did with it. There's no rhyme or reason with what she takes, so it's near impossible to do any behaviour modification. I was told to try spraying bitter apple into her mouth & she almost took my hand off. Please believe me, I love her dearly. Having her put down is the very last thing I want to do. But I've exhausted everything else:(
